We’d like to bring to your attention a local community initiative (Ajax / Pickering, ON) which promotes healthy and active living for anyone!
DUFFINS TRAIL parkrun
parkrun brings numerous and substantial benefits to the local community including an increase in health and exercise participation, community and social cohesion, as well as tourism opportunities!
parkrun (always one word, always lowercase) organizes free, weekly, 5km runs around the world to 150,000+ runners globally, with 3 million+ runners in their database! They’ve been doing this for 13 years worldwide and have the figures and statistics to support the many benefits and popularity of the runs.
parkruns are free, weekly, timed events across the world, organised by local volunteers.
Everyone is welcome at parkrun – whether you walk, jog, run or volunteer.
Thanks to the support of our partners, land owners, and thousands of volunteers, our events will always be free and everyone will always be welcome!

The format of parkrun is simple: register once, print your barcode, then turn up and take part* wherever you want, whenever you want.
” It doesn’t matter how fast you go. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing. What matters is taking part. “
* The Waypoint in no way benefits from parkrun, or is connected to parkrun in any way other than having a number of employees who are passionate about parkrun’s cause and see it take off in their community.
